Dear beta testers,

here's the first draft of the changelog for The West 2.0.

Please keep in mind, that not all features listed here are available yet, and certain features might be changed/removed in the final version of the game.

If everything goes fine the update will happen on Thursday (16th of August) on Amchitka, and the next week on Alamogordo.

So, here's the changelog:

Hot news
  • New map
    There is a completely newly created map with new graphics, more variety and a lot of new stuff to discover.
    The whole map has been created tile by tile manually, not with a generator which leads to excellent quality.
  • New Interface and game windows
    The West 2.0 will run in fullscreen and therefore got a new modern interface. There are no borders anymore and symbols are mainly used instead of text navigation.
    Furthermore we reworked all ingame screens, and improved their layout and functionality.
  • New Job system
    The new job system is more exciting and rewards activity. That smoothens the game flow, especially in the start phase and will help keeping new players in the game.
  • New tutorial
    The new tutorial is a lot shorter than the old one was, a lot clearer and only explains the most important features in a graphically attractive and rewarding way.


Other cool features and improvements
  • When opening the bug report window the map will show coordinates to make reporting graphical issues more easier (beta only)
  • The redesigned minimap has new features as well!
  • Notification system that informs about events like level ups, reports, fort battles directly in the main interface and also shows game tips (did you know, that....)
  • The chat is now divided into tabs per chat rooms (fort battle, county, town, whispers, ...)
  • Hotkeys allow you to open screens a lot faster and navigate on the map by pressing keys on your keyboard
  • Silver and Gold jobs appear randomly on the map and give higher rewards than usual
  • Travelling is visualized on the map, you aren't just teleporting anymore
  • New players will have a very high speed buff for the first few hours
  • Experience earned at every part of the game is multiplied by 3
  • Daily quests can be accepted in the Saloon now, clicking on the poster on the right
  • You can now accept 4 jobs on default, 9 with premium
  • Quests (especially in the beginning) are updated according to the new job system (both requirements and rewards are changed)
  • Nuggets cost for product buying is adjusted as well
  • Greenhorn set is improved
  • Duelers' instant duel radius is increased with the new traveling times
  • Town forum can now be opened from the town window!
  • The saloon shows the exact amount of time you have to wait to duel a player instead of "duel is not possible for 48 hrs"
  • The "show on map" button on the town window is now on the top so that it works with towns with no profiles
  • Alliance invitation reports have a link now to the town hall
  • Tooltips are shown on the market when the price was cut off - oh you rich traders!
  • Pony-express can now notify you if your town's fort is being attacked
  • The drop chance of products from product bags was adjusted
  • Poker has been removed


Bugfixes
  • Nicknames won't be hidden anymore on the rankings when the title is too long
  • Rich players can now bid higher than $1.000.000 on the market (as separators won't cause problems anymore ;) )
  • No errors will be shown now when you active the vacation mode
  • Minimized fort windows now have a title
  • To support equal rights the title "free woman" can be found in the game now
  • Names can be clicked on the town's residents window even when the names are too long
  • Sleep time is now counted for achievements even when the sleep task is cancelled

WARNING!

Due to the changes introduced in West 2.0 we'll have to delete ALL of your reports while updating the game.
Please take screenshots of the reports you wan't to remember later, as we won't be able to restore them.

We are starting with update tests on a new world (World3) now. This will lead to missing graphics on the other Beta worlds. We're sorry for that!

An update is coming to Amchitka and Enewetak with a huge load of bugfixes and performance improvements. Keep on testing! :)

FYI: due to the performance issues we have on the servers currently we had to replace the county chats with another chatroom. This chatroom will only let certain amount of players join in (the limit is 80 right now). Once the limit is reached the server will open a new chatroom and put the others in this new room.

The player limit on Enewetak is raised even further and we've removed the restriction on Alamogordo players registering to Enewetak.

Oh, and before i forget, we're updating Alamogordo to 2.0 in the next minutes. ;)

As you might have noticed we did another update today with the following things:

  • Movement speed has been increased so you can travel faster
  • Luck and danger calculation has been adjusted at jobs, motivation won't affect danger anymore
  • Tutorial has been improved
  • And tons of bugfixes, including the bug in the page bar on the trader windows and the bug that caused the job and works window to display different numbers for money and XP
  • We placed a button in the quest book now to open the employer to avoid confusion

We updated the beta yet again:

  • The chat window has been completely reworked:
    • The chat window will now open in the bottom left corner, leaving you much space on the screen
    • The window is now transparent, letting you see everything behind the chat window (transparency and background color can be adjusted in the options window)
    • The chat dims itself once it becomes inactive (you select another window) to let you see through it even more
    • You only have to hover over the chat window to make it active again and write there, no clicks wasted
    • Chat can be resized to almost any size you want and you can reset it by pressing the circle icon on the top of the chat window
  • The saloon and quest book has been separated to avoid confusion. You can see your currently accepted and finished quests in the quest book, and can accept and finish quests in the saloon. The saloon can be accessed by clicking the icon in the notification bar on the left (only shown once you finish the tutorials)
  • The major issue of not getting any energy while working has been resolved
  • And as usual, tons of smaller bugfixes, like the broken bb codes on the town forum, deleting telegrams by clicking on the trash can, moving telegrams to other categories, etc.

Known issues:
  • Some of the quest texts might be misleading about the location of the employer, this issue will be adressed later on

another update hit the worlds yesterday with the following changes:
  • We've improved the game loading screen upon logging in
  • The daily quests have been changed/rebalanced based on your feedback
  • Plenty of bugfixes - thanks for reporting those, keep on testing ;)

Dear players,

we're updating the beta servers with the following changes right now:
  • Interface highlights
    • The Town button will be highlighted at every new town forum post
    • The Messages button will be highlighted if there is a new report or telegram. If you've received a report and click on the Messages button the reports tab will be opened.
    • The Inventory button is highlighted when you received an item that you never had before
    • The Skill button stays highlighted as long as you have any free skill or attribute points
    • These highlights all vanish as soon as you click the button (except for the skills button, and the opening the town forum removes the highlight from the town button)
    • The highlight animation can be deactivated in the settings so that there is no animation but only a blue background to the icons (by unchecking Settings -> Interface -> Animations & Window Animations)
  • The energy costs for jobs are displayed in the job window now!
  • The map has been updated to the latest version, which means a few jobs might change place, and we also removed the extra fort from County 1.
  • We've fixed most of the bugs you've reported on the fort battle and recruitment screens (thanks for reporting those!)
  • And as always, plenty of other bugfixes

If the bottom bar looks ugly upon logging in please refresh your browser, or clear your cache.

Seems like we'll be doing a quick update today with the following changes:

  • New task queue
    As you could read it on the dev-blog already, starting tasks will be batched if the player starts several tasks in a short interval to lower the load on our servers.
    Please test the tasks carefully, as we need to know if there are any bugs left
  • Smaller UI improvements, like missing tooltips were added, sorting is fixed on the "players standing here" window
  • Fixed plenty of the missing translations or text errors
  • And a few more bugfixes to the reported bugs

Yet another update hit the worlds now with the following changes:

  • The damage formula has been adjusted so that with every additional labour point you have for a job you are lowering the final damage by 1%, the cap for that is 90%. This means that if you have 35 additional labour points on Grave robber the damage done to you will be lowered by 35%. However it won't matter if you have 91 additional points or 120, the damage will only be lowered by 90% then.
  • Several smaller town forum improvements and bugfixes (more will follow)
  • As always, bugfixes (thanks to your reports!)

Here comes another update!

  • New bottom bar with improved new highlights
  • The town forum button is moved to the town screen to its real place
  • A lot of town forum improvements and bugfixes
  • New game tips
  • The end point of travels is shown by a flag on the map
  • New hotkeys
  • New smilies in the chat
  • Chat screen size and position can be saved
  • Tutorial improvements
  • Fort recruiting window improvements
  • And several other bugfixes
  • Bug in the product finding chance fixed (You will find less products now)
  • Adventurer-Bonus "The chance to get hurt while working a job is lowered by 10%" wasn't taken into account while doing jobs.

Another update is on it's way and includes:

  • Chat performance optimizations
  • Use of PHP Namespaces for better performance (A lot of files have changed becoause of this change and a lot of stuff has been adjusted. Errors might occur that lead to not working features. If you find any please report them.)
  • Layout improvemnts of quest windows: Different paragraphs like text, reward and requirenements are visually better divided. Furthermore rewards are emphasized stronger now.
  • A cloth calculation has been implemented that lets you filter out the best items for a specific job (Ignores set boni still).
  • A lot of bugfixes and minor improvements

We are looking forward to feedback and bug reports!

There has been a small update yesterday and there will be one today as well.
Besides the usual corrections, most prominent fixes are:

  • Players joining a fortbattle got a class in "Who's allowed to speak during a FortBattle". The /rights command in the chat is now working as intended again.
  • Ignored players rigged your chat and had still been able to spam you. We found the loophole and removed it. They shouldn't annoy you anymore.
  • The fort's leading town founders found the button to kick out other towns from a fort again.
  • The Wasteland: Mrs Anderson finally remembered in which cardinal direction her son went. Hopefully that will let you find him a little bit better.
  • Some quest rewards didn't have images. Since we don't want you to guess, we added them. However, there still might be missing pieces.
  • Jobs can fly ... to the TaskQueue. Technology makes it happen!
