Soccer event 2026 - Discussion

Excuse me, Shirohime, you lied! It's not true that nothing was done against FIFA. (Impeachment proceedings have been initiated against Swiss Federal Prosecutor Michael Lauber because of his secret meetings with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Federal Prosecutor's Office is investigating a number of corruption cases related to FIFA. An overview.) and the new Federal Prosecutor, Special Prosecutor Stefan Keller, is no longer allowed to investigate FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Appeals Chamber of the Federal Criminal Court has granted Infantino's recusal request. The reason is Keller's public statements.) only the essentials. Too much to translate.

Going to make this clear in the first line, just in case, I don't defend what Qatar goverment did during the preparation of WC 2022, during the executon of WC 2022 nor their messed-up laws that go over Human Rights.

While all you mentioned did happen to certain degree, there is a misconception with the last quote.

Football Event happens in June every year, while Qatar World Cup was held in November-December of 2022, (decision that was made way back in March 2015). You say item 2 and item 3 that happened during Qatar World Cup 2022, contributed to not having Football event in 2022, but you should see that chronologically is impossible, because a future event can't affect a past event (November-December events happen AFTER June).

Now item 1 could have contributed to Football event not being held in 2022, if only it happened exclusively during 2022, but that isn't true. Human Rights violation, Force Labor/Slavery and the deaths that happened because of the preparations of Qatar World Cup 2022 were being reported many years before 2022, leading to Kafala system being abolished in Qatar by 2020 (altho irregularly) and also the introduction of the concept of minimal wage for jobs, Humans Rights organizations interventions and many other things that ensure the preparations go smoothly in the good sense. Many organizations still claimed the conditions weren't ideal and sometimes they were bad, but if you check the news about that topic prior to all the changes Qatar made before 2022 in that matter, the situation was A LOT, A REAL LOT, better by 2022 than it was years before.
So Innogames not holding Football Event in 2022 was partially about Qatar 2022 but not entirely because of Qatar 2022.

Therefore, a singular minor event like the red-card scandal, (yes it's a minor scandal, now that USA is out, you don't see people talking about it nor giving a single freak about it), doesn't hold a candle to terminating future football events in the game.

IF anything, FIFA has been known for being a corrupt organizations many many years ago, but nobody does anything because at the end of they day everyone knows it's business and entertainment, 90% of the spectators doesn't even care about the corruption in that organization, just like WWE shows, everyone knows they are staged and watch if for the entretainment more than rooting for one of their stars, even when there is real money.

Lastly, do you really think Innogames holds Football event because they care about football? Nah, they do it to have another excuse to take money off players, those football fans mostly, they don't care about what actually happens in the real world, never did, never will. So Football events will keep happening so long they can keep making money off of it.
If InnoGames only runs the event for money, then skipping 2022 was also a money decision: the risk/PR calculus of running football content in the most controversial football year in decades simply wasn't worth it. It's not "caring about human rights," it's brand safety, but it still means Qatar was the reason, just filtered through a spreadsheet instead of a conscience.

Just to add facts to this: both of you are partially right. Proceedings against FIFA did exist, Lauber faced impeachment proceedings over his undisclosed meetings with Infantino, and Keller opened criminal proceedings against Infantino in 2020. But the outcomes matter too: Lauber resigned in 2020 before impeachment concluded, and Keller was recused from the Infantino case in 2021 over his public statements. Infantino was never charged and remains FIFA president. So "something was done" and "nothing came of it".

The kafala system is great without corruption(citizen corruption abusing the system for personal gain), if it was the way it was intended, and none abusive slavery+ condition.

So they'd rather support a cup with worse human rights abuses since the relationship between the US and Israel, with its ongoing genocide, does that mean innogames support it?

This isn't about just Palestinians, its about supremacy of west Asia from European colonizers, and capitalistic corporate slavery.

My wording wasn't the most precise, I will admit it, allow me to correct myself.

Nothing meaningful was made against FIFA that doesn't allow them to remain being the corrupt piece of sh-t of an organization as they always have been.
From 2015 Corruption case they removed corrupt people and let in another corrupt people, anyone smart enough can realize and notice that.

It's not "caring about human rights," it's brand safety, but it still means Qatar was the reason
Yes, Qatar was the reason, but more accurately, the views and opinions of people on that matter was the reason, not that they cared about what happened on Qatar one single bit, they only cared about the PR impact; that's what I meant. And like I said before, in contrast to Qatar, a minor event like the red card scandal (the first reason Baggy is asking future Football events to be canceled, as he mentioned it) is not even close to being a reason of termination for an event that is made to get money, not to improve their public image. Unless something that can produce a big backslash to PR happens, Football event will continue.

this thread is about the soccer event in the game
not the bull shit game in real life
jeezzz a lot can't keep the two apart
a lot of people don't really care about that overprized overpayed stupid game anyways
paying millions for an idiot that runs behind a ball and can do some tricks like a trained dog
those people get angry about the smallest crap, while the players get millions and don't give a shit except for their paycheck
get a life people
