Character Class Changes

Do we need character changes?

I think it's really important to maintain a very precise balance between the character classes — the difference should be noticeable, but not too much.
Not sure if I understand your point exactly, but if you mean what I understand right now, then I disagree.

Classes are distinctions in gameplay, they offer diversity in the game. I agree that there should be balance ( i.e. whilst each class excels at a particular aspect, they shouldn't be broken) in the bonuses offered, but each should be better at their "purpose" than others without crossing over into other aspects too much

Actually no game features have been added over the years since character classes, since adventures are not affected by the class of the player. And,at the time of fort battles, character classes (I can't remember which was added first, classes or forts) were changed to reflect bonuses and intended roles in forts.

I honestly still see these roles as still being very viable and serving the same purpose today.

This may come off as a bit rude (sorry if it does, not my intent), but just because your preferred gameplay at the time of the account creation is now different from the type of gameplay you prefer now, that does not mean classes have to be changed. You are free to make a new account with play as a different class. I personally started off as an advent, then I wanted to play as a dueler so I made a dueler toon, then I wanted to play as a soldier so I started a new world as a soldier, and so on. Right now I have multiple toons with multiple classes.

But yeah, the easiest option would be to just let people do a one time class change (though the number of advents would drop a lot)

Well, I am not sure what came first neither .. anyway changes in battle formulas, and even worker class, same as influence of sets vs number of skill point you have from level etc do make game different.

I loved the most duel class .. that there are almost no duel opponents now is different topic, but what purpose does for example option to duel without travelling serves today? In good set I can travel from one corner of map to the other in no time .. Etc

And sure, I can create new accounts (and I did, at least 15 new characters with together way over 1M 15s jobs clicked), but one can't click 4ver, especially when its diff to create new account when max lvl is 120, 150 and 250 .. higher max level * higher weapon dmg (per lvl) * skill points from sets (per lvl) , and difficulty to catch up makes creating new accounts on old servers nightmare.

What I meant is that you should be able to feel the difference between character classes — whether I’m a Worker or a Soldier, for example. But if the differences are too big and there’s no way to change or switch your character class during the game, then I’ll be stuck with the same one for years, and it’s easy to regret the choice I made. Right now, there aren’t many differences between the classes — it doesn’t really matter which one you pick, you can still progress well and take part in Fort Battles, Duels, etc. Just look at the Adventurer class at the moment — do you really think it’s on par with the other three? I think it’s worse; its bonuses are more outdated. I feel sorry for those who picked Adventurer and now have no way to reconsider.

I think the character class bonuses are really, really outdated. Just look at how long it takes to reach, say, level 250 from zero. Am I supposed to play for 10–15 years to get there? That’s unrealistically long.
But isn't that (one) of the points of the game? To offer some kind of progression that isn't just wam bam done in 5 months.

I really don't believe that level progression is at all the fault of character classes, but more because of how XP is granted in the game. XP from duels as increased, which is great, but it's still low. XP from forts, jobs and quests are also very low. This is kinda the fault of the slow leveling to 250.

On top of that,I very much disagree with people saying that leveling up from 1-250 is hard....humm yeah, duh, why would you expect it to be easy? It's basic game progression in a nutshell

I’m currently 21 years old — by the time I retire, I might finally reach level 250. :D
(There are people who have been trying really hard for 15 years and still haven’t reached it.) On the Hungarian server, no one has reached it yet.

Sounds like, here, you are advocating simply for a class change option, which I agree with. Again,I understand regretting the initial decision, but that does not make the character classes bad.

Yes you can progress in the game in the same way regardless of your class, but how well you perform (or can perform) is highly impacted by your class.

Like I said above, character class doesn't affect game progression that much, but more so how well you can perform at certain game features.

I have seen advents save fort battles so many times. You ask if I think it's on par with the other classes, in what game aspect are you referring to? No it's not on par with ,for example, duelers in duels, but that's because advents were not created with the intent to be on par with duelers in duels.

It's not difficult, but almost impossible. :D
There are people already at 250, and many others quite close. It's not impossible at all, difficult yes, but nowhere near impossible.

I think, respectfully, that you are missing the point.I guarantee you that out of all of the people who claim that they have been playing for 15 years, they actually haven't actually done so. 100% at times they were inactive at some point,or farmed random jobs because they were bored or whatever else. Just because you've been playing for a long time that doesn't equal "I should be a much higher level than I am".

The Adventurer set is worth less compared to the other three in terms of value for stats. What’s the point of sleeping in a hotel for free, for example? Don’t you think that’s outdated? The hit chance bonus adds only a minimal value compared to the current sets, and in battles, the Adventurer is weaker than the other three character classes. Yes, I would like the option to change my character class — especially if the differences between classes become more significant. Right now, the class doesn’t influence gameplay that much, but it should either stay that way or allow switching.

How can you reach it quickly? Should I sit at the computer 24/7 clicking 15-second jobs? I strongly doubt that there hasn’t been a Hungarian player who really wanted to reach it and did everything possible. Yet no one has reached it there.

Temple building gives, let's say, 15-20 thousand experience points per hour at best. Have you calculated how many hours it would take to reach level 250 from zero? Or should I really be clicking 15-second jobs from morning to night just to level up and forget the fact that playing a game that much is completely unhealthy and destructive to real life?

I'm not willing to pay such a high price by giving up my lifetime for a game. Yes, I play a lot, but I don't think it's worth that much.

Just replace the advent hotel bonus and the soldier tactics bonus then the classes are balanced.

What would be best i believe is to have an option to choose character perks regardless of class so everyone can suit their character on what they like doing

This game is like a cow that you keep milking even though it barely gives any milk anymore. After nearly 10 years of highly active playing, the only thing I still enjoy is the community. Everything else became boring years ago, as we never really get meaningful updates. It's no coincidence that new players leave quickly, and the game's popularity is rapidly declining.

Again, here you simply are advocating for a class change option which I already said I agree with.

You ask what is the point of sleeping in a hotel for free, I ask you what is the point of soldiers being able to use a weapons a few levels earlier. Not all bonuses are supposed to serve a purpose to all players, some find it useful, most don't. I believe these bonuses were also originally created with the intent of supporting the type of gameplay of the class, from a "narrative" perspective. Advents are people who roam the prairie and can sleep whatever they want, hence kinda supported by the free hotel option. I am very much so in favor of the game having a stronger narrative feature and this being properly supported through gameplay.

You said in fort battles ,advent class is weaker than the rest,in what aspect? Because again, it's not supposed to be as strong on certain aspects as other classes (other classes which in turn suck in aspects that the advent does well in )

How can you reach it quickly? Should I sit at the computer 24/7 clicking 15-second jobs? I strongly doubt that there hasn’t been a Hungarian player who really wanted to reach it and did everything possible. Yet no one has reached it there.
Sorry, but yes? You grind hard ,you level up faster. You play more casually, you level up slower. You play somewhere in the middle of those two types, then you progress at a medium pace

Again,SORRY,but how you play the game is up to you. If you wish to live am unhealthy lifestyle and spend the entire day clicking.... that's your call.

This is not a problem with this game, but with all games that offer this type of gameplay/level progression. If you want to play more casually, you will have more fun but progress at a slower pace. That's just how all games are

Thank you for your replies and the conversation. I think I’ll step away from this discussion now, as you seem to strongly hold onto a perspective I don’t share at all. I don’t want to argue or try to prove that I’m right. I believe many other players would agree with the points I made. I wish you good luck and enjoy the game!

Maybe several things tangled together and different points of view.

1,
"I want to change class bonuses."
But really, first and foremost, I want the ability to change the character to a different one.

2,
"Character bonuses are generally outdated, and should be updated"
This acknowledges the specializations and benefits of the classes, i.e. worker building cities, adventurer jobs, duelants duels and soldier battles, but within the specializations wants adjustments.
The damage mitigation bonus for adventurer is good, but what about sleeping in a hotel?
Duelant gaining more money is still useful, but the speed advantage and ability to challenge instantly is a bit lame nowadays - there is no direct advantage to dueling (as opposed to e.g. soldier which has a tactics bonus.. though a passive bonus to defense)

3,
"Character bonuses are outdated specifically for battles"

And certainly other points of view, like someone likes the bonuses from multiple classes and would like to combine them. Or likes the specialization route, but would like even more options (like more character groups).

(out of theme, to 250lvl cap and speed of levelling, just remember that everything is speeding up .. when u're stuck at 150 lvl, daily log bonus won't change much, but now u're gaining 10% every 5 days .. which may be like 100k xp, but also a few millions just by logging in, plus thanks to higher level, u can build church to higher levels and again get much more xp .. plus better jobs with sets with higher XP bonus .. it won't take that long to achieve it ..)

I agree with the hotel bonus I guess, kinda serves no purpose, but 100% disagree with at all touching the tactics bonus on soldiers.

I have dueled as and against soldiers (I say duel because I assume this is why players hate the soldier tactics bonus) and it's nowhere near as OP as people make it to be. At this point in time, with all of the new sets, it's incredibly easy to counter it.

Arguing was not my intent nor was trying to make you step away from this thread. But respectfully, I am entitled to my own opinion and if this contradicts yours,then...sorry I guess?

I don't think anyone is right or wrong here , it's simply a matter of opinion and preference

Yes, you have the right to an opinion, and so do I. There's nothing wrong with that, I just don't want to talk about it any more.
It's a pointless conversation. (For me)

And to add on to that, regarding these posts about "here are the set bonuses planned for next event, give us feedback" - these are nice and appreciated and it's cool to see that you use our feedback, but I've always hated them, please stop doing them. Not only does it give InnoGames a bad look (so as to say, " do our work for us because we cannot"), but it also ruins all anticipation and expectations for these event. You have an internal team of testers, people who know and are familiar with the game, use them. You can then post them on the forum and maybe change 1 or 2 things based on initial feedback, but the way it works right now just isn't it.
Respectfully you have no idea what you're talking about. If you knew, you wouldn't even dare yourself to write this.
