Rancher’s Riddle

Howdy Cowgirls & Cowboys,
we have prepared a new contest for you!

Contest

Step right up, traveller — a new kind of challenge awaits!
A rancher once passed through town, leaving behind a mysterious puzzle carved into stone.
Locals say it’s no ordinary game: every line of numbers must balance just right.
No gold, no maps, no tricks — just pure brainpower.

Think you can solve it?
Prove your skill, post your solution, and claim your place among the best puzzle-solvers in The West.

How it works?

Below, you’ll find an interactive number puzzle grid.
The grid is divided into heavily outlined regions called "cages".
Each cage has a target number and a mathematical operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication etc).
The numbers within each cage must combine (in any order) to achieve the target number using the specified operation.
Fill the grid with numbers such that no number repeats in any row or column.

Click on any empty square to select it.
A small menu will appear beside the puzzle — choose a number (1, 2, 3, or 4) to place it in the square.
Once you’ve filled in the grid and are happy with your solution:
  • Click "Generate code!" to create your result.
  • Then press "Copy code!" to copy it to your clipboard.
  • Finally, the "Join the contest!" button will open the contest entry page for you.
Paste your code there and submit your entry.

Notes:

  • You must be logged into the forum for the "Join the contest!" button to work.
  • You can paste your code with CTRL+V or right-click and select Paste.
  • The copied code is unique to your solution and shows the numbers you placed on the grid.
Deadline: Submit your entry before September 7th at 11:59 p.m. (CEST).
