New Fort Battle Formula

From today, we will be testing a new formula for calculating your attack and defend values in fort battles. Overall stamina and hiding will become more important, with leadership also increased to a lesser extent. For those interested in the maths, the structure is the same as listed on the wiki, however the exponent has been changed to 0.6 and 0.5 respectively. This change will remain active on the beta for some time; it will not be transferred to the regular worlds until our game designers are satisfied.

Recently our game designer, Ashock, was interviewed by Beau Hindman on a livestream for Massively. (Click here to view the replay.) During the interview, Ashock announced the next stage of our plans to improve fort battles:

In addition to the altered formula to calculate attack and defend values, we will also be introducing a brand new formula. Similar to duelling, this will allow you to increase your damage per shot as well as resistance to damage, not only chance to hit. Providing additional skill points in leadership, stamina or hiding will influence these calculations, however health points will directly reduce your effectiveness. In combination with the previous changes, once ready, we hope you will enjoy creating a build no longer dependant on heavy HP!

The change detailed above is being activated as we speak! It is very important this change undergoes some thorough testing, so please be sure to initiate and participate in as many battles as you can over the next few days :)

(The damage and resistance bonuses will not be shown in the window yet, but they will be working behind the scenes.)

It is with pleasure that we can announce the new formulas!

Damage: Weapon + (Weapon * Leadership / MaxHP)

Resistance: (1200 / MaxHP) * (Stamina OR Hiding)[sup]0.5[/sup]

Here is an example of the formulas:

Carl Barron has half of his 30,000 HP remaining and 1000 points in leadership. Therefore, when using Geronimo's shotgun, Carl will inflict the following damage (before resistance):

Damage = 450 + (450 * 1000 / 30000)
Damage = 450 + 15
Damage = 465


Carl Barron is then hit by his evil twin, Mr Njub. With Carl's 1000 stamina/hiding, he will resist the following amount of damage:

Resistance = (1200 / 30000) * 1000[sup]0.5[/sup]
Resistance = 0.04 * 31.622776601683
Resistance = 1.264911064067

Please be aware the formula for resistance will be changed:

Resistance = 300 * (Stamina OR Hiding) / MaxHP

This boosts it to be comparable to the damage formula.

From community feedback, we are trialling a new change on World Alamogordo:

Stamina will be replaced as a fort skill by fine motor skills. It will be no more or less powerful than before, just the skill used is changed.

Like last time, there will be a quest available to release all skill points in stamina. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out testing!

Note: some items will change from stamina to fine motor skills. So far, this list includes the tombola reward sets for forts.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our trial. I can confirm that from 2.06 it has been suspended. Hopefully we will be able to bring some new changes in the near future, combined with any assistance necessary :)
